I am a wife and mother. I have taught Bible studies. I was an International Flight Attendant. We always had a black lab. My point is, life was “normal”.
I was halfway between Paris and Atlanta on 9\11. The United States had closed its airports and Charles de Gaulle denied our return. Being one of the last flights to land, we were running out of fuel and excuses as to what had happened in our world that day.
Shortly thereafter, I began to experience anxiety whenever I felt trapped. Carpool lines and crowded venues would leave me completely undone.
I went to a psychiatrist that convinced me that I was a “mess”, but with the right medications, I would be up and running again. In less than six months I was addicted to prescription medication. This continued for years.
My BOLD move was checking into treatment. I did the work. With God’s perfect grace, I have recently completed five years of living a gloriously imperfect life, but it is a life that I can feel, taste, touch and remember. Be Bold.
